This past sunday Matt and I took a day trip to Downieville. If you don't know where Downieville is, it is about 1 hour north of Nevada City. This is a VERY small town in the sierras. I used to go there a lot when i was a kid with my parents and grandparents. There are some great camp sites and swim spots all olong the river. We are planning to go camping there in the near future. We had a great time just walking around the town, we had lunch at the same pizza place that I have eaten at many years ago on numerous occasions, yum yum! Jen, do you remember this place with Mikey when we went sledding? Of course we had to have some ice cream as well. It was such a good day. We plan on going again to go all the way to Sierra City to climb up to the Sierra Buttes look out, we need the jeep for this adventure which Matt is really thrilled about! I want to take lots of pictures too. The last time I went there I was really little and I was not aloud to climb to the top of the look out because I was " too skinny" and it was too windy at the top.... I'm not kidding either, so I want to give it another try. This area is such a great place to explore and enjoy the outdoors. We stopped at different spots to let Sadie out and cool off in the river. It is so beautiful up there.

Matt & Sadie touring Downieville.
This is a real gallow used once in 1888 at a nearby site then restored in 1988. Matt getting a feel for what it was like! The onw time it was used was on a 20 year old for murder.
Taking a dip to cool off. Sadie loved the water.
The water felt really good. this was a great swim hole. Too bad we didn't have our suits :(
What a cutie!

Love and hugs,

My grandpa built a cabin when my mom was 5 up past Sierra City! They sold it about 6 years ago so I know all about where you are talking about! I loved going there as a kid! There is a place to hike up to and its a rock pile at the top of the little mt. and you write notes and then bury them under the rocks! :)
Was it really hot there?
Yeah for a new post Christy! Love the pics included! That looks like a really pretty place.
