I have been looking through old photos today and realized I forgot to post anything about our New Years vacation in Tahoe. I love looking back at old photos and reliving the memories. Of course there is a lot of pics of our pups enjoying the snow but I also through in some of ourselves and Matt's dad too. We always have a great time in Tahoe, in fact I believe it is one of our favorite places to go. Thank goodness it is so close.
#1 thing on our bucket list.......own a house in Tahoe!

* can someone please tell me how to get more then 5 photos to post. blogger won't let me ever do anymore then that.

New Year's 2010 Tahoe Vacation.

It's a love/hate relationship! If you look close enough you can see Sadie "smiling" at Toby!

Did I mention she loves the snow! We decided to not torture her with her snow boots, I believe she would have lost them in the snow anyways.

This is what they did for over an hour on the snow covered beach. They were pooped afterwards.

It was REALLY bright out there!

Sadie got new boots from Santa!

The last time we went to the snow sadie's feet started bleeding. Since this has never happened before we thought it must have been because it was really cold and the snow was icey. Sadie loves the snow so much that we thought she should have some boots to protect her feet. I am not sure she thinks the same! Tahoe here we come! Happy New Year!

I can sympathize........

Sadie has a UTI! Yep you read it right, just when we thought things were getting easier with Sadie, she woke us( or should I say me) up last night whining and whimpering about every hour or so. I took her out and she would pee just a little tiny bit, I know the feeling:( . After a very long night for her and me and a vet visit this morning, we hopefully are on the road to recovery again. The vet is seriously a rip off, 125.00 for the antibiotics!!!! What do you do?! For a shelter Dog she is certainly packing the price of a pure bred. Oh well we love her just the same.

5 down 3 to go!

I thought I would do an update on Sadie. She is doing well. It's been 5 weeks since her surgery and she has 3 more weeks in the 4x4 "cage". She is starting to feel a lot better so it is getting harder and harder to keep her on the low key. She has an appointment on the 22nd to see how she is healing. We hope to get the go ahead to start the therapy process. Her hair is growing back and she is also growing a ton of hair in between her toes on her paws that we think is very funny! This must be caused by the lack of exercise to rub it off. We have never seen this before.
This picture was taken Christmas morning with her stocking stuffer toy. She ripped it apart in about 3 minutes! Happy New Year!

Road to Recovery.....

Sadie had surgery on Friday the day after Thanksgiving to repair a ruptured ACL in her back left leg. We brought her home Saturday. This was an extensive surgery, they cute her bone and then repositioned it and secured it with a metal plate. She is doing OK. She was whining a lot last night so we had to keep her pretty medicated on pain medicine. Matt and I slept in the living room so we could hear her if she started whining, we didn't really sleep. I think I had 1 eye on her all night! We are having to take her outside on a leash and with a sling under her belly to prevent her from putting weight on her bad leg and injuring her good leg. She does not care for the sling as you can imagine. She has yet to go to the bathroom out side but instead she has been peeing while she sleeps, so i changed her bed about 4 times last night (hopefully it is because of all the pain meds and not for any other reason). Luckily after the first time I put a mattress protector over her bed, then covered it with a sheet to prevent her bed from getting wet. Thank goodness we have 2beds for her!
Wish us luck, she has to be contained in a 4x4 gated area for 8 weeks. We have to use the sling for about 2 weeks. No activity for 8 weeks and then very limited for 4 weeks after that. We are looking at about a 12 week recovery period, UGH!
Good thing I am not working I don't know what we would do if I was. I was more worried about the recovery then he was, I had a feeling it was going to be difficult.
We are feeling really bad about all the pain she is in, but we also know that it was the only way to fix it. She was not going to get better with out it. Thankfully it was something that was fixable.
Until she is COMPLETELY healed, she will be COMPLETELY spoiled!!!!

Her gated area she will be in for 8 weeks.

You can see her leg and all the bruising. The incision is on the side of her leg that is against her belly. Looks so painful!

Poor girl!

The night before surgery, cuddleing with Matt! She had no idea what the next day would intail :(

Poor Sadie Girl :(

Update: sadie is having surgery on friday.

Sadie has been limping on her back left leg for awhile now. We took her to the vet when she first started limping and they thought she had arthritis in her leg so we started a glucosamine regiment and aspirin therapy. We never noticed much difference and it was really bad if she was at all active. Well about 2 weeks ago when she was out front, she BOLTED across the street to see the neighbor and has held her back leg up ever since. She won't even put a little weight on it. We felt so bad to see her hurting. Well lots of $$$ later we have found out she most likely has a torn ACL. Sooo......we are heading to an orthopedic surgeon in Sac hopefully soon. We always said we would do what we could if she needed anything, so here we go. Merry Christmas to us! Why does it seem that things always come up around the holidays? Wish us luck.

Tahoe continued again....

Matt taking a rest at a nearby creek while on our bike ride.

In front of Lake Tahoe while on the bike trail.
Kayaking in Zephyr Cove. This was sooo much fun. These pictures were taken at the end of our kayaking adventure, hence the buoys in the back ground and the VERY shallow water. I didn't want to risk getting my camera wet. We were much more brave then it appears.

I just had to throw in a picture of Sadie and her friend for the day on Zephyr cove beach.
